The West Tennessee Animal Rescue offers various ways to help the animals of West Tennessee. Here are some of the ways you can help:
- Monetary Donations
Quite a bit of the basic veterinary care required to get a dog or cat ready for adoption is paid for from the fee we receive when the pet is adopted. However, there are often issues the pet needs taken care of above the basic care. Donated money
is used to cover those costs.
We also offer a low cost option for people in our community who can't afford to have their pets spayed or neutered. We realize that the only way to end the dog and cat over population problem in Tennessee is to make sure all dogs and cats are
spayed or neutered. This program is funded by donations from the public and fundraising events.
If you'd like your donation earmarked for a particular program or for the care of an individual dog or cat until adoption, be sure to write us a note, write a note in the MEMO of your check or
add a note to your Paypal payment prior to submitting (if you forget to add a notation to the Paypal payment, that's OK, just email us).
- Adoption Fairs
We always need people to walk pets, brush pets, and various other assistant tasks at our adoption fairs. We are usually at the PetSmart store in Jackson, TN most Saturday afternoons.
- Computer, Data Entry
If computer work and data entry sounds like something that might interest you, let us know. Various times through the year tasks pop up where we may need your talent.
- Foster Home
West TN Animal Rescue is an all-fostercare rescue organization. We do not have a shelter building where the animals live. Our pets live at member's homes until they are adopted to their forever homes. If you're interested in being a Foster Family for our pets please complete
a Foster Care Application.
In addition to donations to fund our programs, we depend on volunteers helping with fundraising events throughout the year. We need help with countless tasks for all the different events. We'd love your help at one or two events, or every event, or if you'd like to coordinate an event we'd love to talk to you about your idea.
In 2010 a few of our fundraisers were a couple bake sales; dinner theatre & performances of the play, Dixie Swim Club (in 2009 we the performance was Steel Magnolias); t-shirt sales; Pearls for Paws dance w/silent auction, Photo Sessions, and more. To volunteer for fundraisers please fill out the Volunteer Application.
All of our adoptable pets are placed on the Internet so they can be seen by potential adoptive families. We must have photos taken often of the dogs & cats to place them online. If they aren't adopted right away, they need to have their photos updated so the information is kept fresh. If you could commit to going to foster homes in your area and being those pets'
photographer, that'd really help us out and you'd really be helping pets get new homes. You don't need to be a professional photographer, just have your own camera and be able to email the photos to our Web people to upload to the pet's Webpage.
- Transport Pets in West Tennessee
Periodically we need people to transport an adopted pet to their new home in and around West Tennessee, we also need someone to transport pets from foster homes to the veterinary clinic. We also need help transporting cats from fostercare to and from Petsmart Stores for adoption showcasing.
